Description
During the poster presentation, I will showcase a whole-school STEM program implemented two years ago to address gaps in hands-on STEM learning and authentic social skill-building caused by pandemic teaching. The program fosters a sense of belonging, improves school community, and cultivates collaboration, problem-solving, and perseverance. It consists of seven STEM teams, each comprising students from three different grade levels, promoting leadership, community building, and empathy. Every Friday, two teams meet for 45 minutes to learn a social skill or character trait and tackle a STEM Challenge in small groups. Teachers engage with new and former students, and the session concludes with the recognition of STEM Champions, who receive 3D printed Gold medals and share their achievements. This successful program has revitalized the school community, bringing students and staff together to laugh and learn.
