Purpose: Participants will understand the process Springfield Public Schools used to support the technological implementation of Standards-Based Grading at Discovery High School, including the development of a Standards-Based Report Card and the updating of the gradebook to accommodate Discovery’s needs. This will be discussed as an example of using already-available tools to support innovative or transformative initiatives, such as what might be found in a Strategic Plan. Objective: Attendees will leave the session with a clear example of innovative use of current tools, and ideas about how to apply the example to their own work. Outline: After a presentation of Springfield’s work with Discovery HS on their implementation of Standards Grading, attendees will participate in a structured discussion in which they consider the different tools and platforms already in their district and how they can be used as solutions in multiple contexts.
