This session will begin by highlighting several TikTok videos where social media influencers are selling students on shortcuts to education - using GenAI tools to read, write, listen, and learn for them. Then, the session will focus on the importance of having academic integrity conversations with students. Participants will learn about the 3 W model for transparency in academic integrity (when, where, & why are these tools allowed/not allowed) and explore academic integrity statements written by educators around the world. Then, then they will write their own academic integrity statement either for an assignment or course syllabus and share with others in the session for feedback. Participants will leave the session ready to have open, transparent academic integrity conversations with students.
