Participants will learn how the Howe Manning School uses their comfort dog, Howie, to address the social and emotional well-being of students and faculty throughout the school year.   This session will include a complete history on how this school acquired, trained, and introduced Howie into the school community and will discuss the many benefits of a comfort dog including: calming students in crisis, relieving anxiety during daily activities and assessments, and visiting classrooms on a regular basis. Presenter will also provide a complete instructional guide to begin this process in schools.   This session will also include a live meet and greet with Howie the comfort dog. Photos of Howie in action along with student, faculty, and family testimonials about the impact Howie has had on their community will be shared.
