Description
As teachers, we are all faced with a diverse classroom filled with students who learn with different learning styles, have a variety of superpowers, but may be new to the US, may have a disability, or are gifted and talented but misplaced in a regular classroom. Today’s teachers find themselves teaching up to 34 students in a given period so how do we engage such an eclectic group and still preserve their student agency? One common factor that all students share is that they want to access the Internet for academic and personal purposes. To unleash our students they must first gain knowledge and skills in a variety of digital citizenship topics so they can enter the digital world confidently and identify when they are drifting into unsafe territories. This session will take you through an authentic teaching experience of how new freshmen students adapt to a project-based learning style while employing 21st-century skills to author their very own digital citizenship book.
