Participants will learn about LLMs, ethical and legal concerns, use by students and educators, effectiveness of AI detectors, and leveraging LLMs for ELA instruction. While the focus is on ELA, educators from other subjects will also benefit. The workshop addresses concerns and opportunities for implementing LLMs in education. The presentation will include a pre and post survey, guided use of our capstone project website * from the ISTE AI for Educators course, and time for exploration and questions. By the end of the presentation, educators will: -Understand what LLMs are and how they operate. -Recognize ethical and legal concerns related to LLMs in education. -Identify specific concerns about LLM use by students and adults. -Understand AI detectors' strengths and weaknesses. -Gain knowledge on leveraging LLMs in ELA instruction. -Be aware of other AI tools similar to ChatGPT and their educational applications. *https://tinyurl.com/aimcf2025 -Work in progress
