Getting What You Need: Harnessing the Power of AI for Lesson Creation and Effective Prompt Writing
Date & Time
Thursday, October 17, 2024, 1:30 PM - 2:25 PM
Jonathan Rollins
Description
Educators will get a first-hand account of developing units and lessons using AI when curriculum materials are lacking. The account will cover the highs and lows of the development how AI can be used in design and how to craft the prompt to get what we need. Educators often need help finding the materials we need promptly and swiftly due to limited supplies, budget constraints, or a lack of staffing. Also, Student engagement has decreased exponentially over the past decade and AI can be used as a tool to craft standard-based lessons that could enhance the current content in our classrooms and create an engaging curriculum for all students. Many educators have begun to use it but need to learn how to design the prompt to reach that destination. We will review prompt design writing in a collaborative space as we ensure our journey of prompt writing for ourselves and with our students in the past year. This is a collaborative session where we want to grow as professionals through the shared community of MassCue during our session. Multiple opportunities for partner and group activities will be given as we hope to share all of the journeys navigating AI in Education. We hope that attendees after our session will have the knowledge and strategies needed to leverage AI for lesson creation, enhancing their teaching practices and boosting student engagement.
