The Journey of Bringing an Information Technology Vocational Program into an Academic High School
Description

The teachers and students of Springfield Central High School of Springfield, Massachusetts will share their experiences during the evolution of a vocational Information Services and Support Networking (ISSN) program. Starting from the planning process to the fourth cohort entering in the 2026-2027 academic year, student representation from each cohort will demonstrate the skills they have developed and discuss their personal experiences participating in this developing program. Creation and evolution of the program will be presented from a teacher and administrator perspective as both internal and external factors played roles in shaping the current development and future direction. Live demonstrations of certification focused training of students will include CompTIA A+ Computer Maintenance & Repair, Cisco Certified Network Administrator (CCNA) networking skills with hardware, and a comprehensive history by teachers of the process taken to establish the program will be presented.
