For the 25/26 school year, our team developed a new digital literacy curriculum that integrates into our district’s Advisory program. With limited time available, our department created 20-minute, student-centered lessons based on the DLCS standards as well as identified high priority needs in our schools. The lessons addressed cyberbullying, misinformation, and AI literacy. During the session, we will share how we created the curriculum by pulling from resources, such as the News Literacy Project and Common Sense Media, as well as designing our own original lessons. We will discuss lessons learned in our first year teaching the lessons to students, and go over changes made for year two. All attendees will walk away with copies of the lesson slides, as well as links to several resources used in the curriculum development.
