Name
Coding for Success with the Wonder League Robotics Competition
Description

Elementary students in Chelsea Public Schools have participated in the Wonder League Robotics Competition for the past 11 years. I will share the best practices I have developed for creating a successful learning experience for students and highlight the skills that students develop as they work in teams to code Dash robots through challenges. Some students make great gains in coding and problem solving skills, while others develop leadership and communication skills--and all become stronger collaborators. The presentation will include many examples of our students persevering through the missions! I will review different models for running a robotics team or program that maximize the potential for equitable student participation and share step-by-step tips for getting started. Educators will have the opportunity to try out Dash and the MakeWonder platform during the session. Moravia Education will provide information packets and raffles of Make Wonder STEM Classroom subscriptions.
