17 > 7: Making Digital Well-Being a 24-Hour Habit
Description
Digital literacy, digital citizenship, digital hygiene, whatever you call it...it's important. On average, kids spend about six hours per day on screens between gaming, chatting, social media, and streaming videos. Educators do their best to teach positive digital habits, critical thinking, and being kind online, only to send kids home and hope for the best. This workshop will detail one educator's journey through teaching digital literacy and forging solid lines of communication with families at home through interactive newsletters, resources, monthly themes, and outreach. Attendees will learn tricks, trips, and techniques to keep the digital lessons we teach in school going at home through direct contact with families and the community. The workship will share what worked, what flopped, and what we can do to encourage positive digital habits, 24/7.
