Year 20, Day 1: The Program I Built — and What Every Educator Can Learn From Starting Over
Description
Whether you're in your first year or your twentieth, walking into a new community means starting over. This session shares one librarian's framework for rebuilding trust, visibility, and impact from the ground up.
After 20 years in education, stepping into a new building still felt like Day 1. What followed was a deliberate, month-by-month effort to build a library program that served students, supported teachers, and made the library impossible to ignore — from a summer space redesign through co-designed AI literacy lessons, a student-run tech help desk, faculty PD, and monthly communication touchpoints — culminating in measurable student engagement and a Summer Book Box sign-up that proved the culture had shifted.
That moment didn't launch the year - it proved it.
Attendees will leave with a replicable year-round framework, planning calendar, and communication templates adaptable for librarians, coaches, administrators, and IT directors alike.
