The AI-Augmented Administrator: Strategic District Rollout and Hands-On Executive Tools
Description
How can a leader guide a district through the AI revolution while managing their own demanding workflow? This session offers a dual perspective on educational AI leadership, balancing systemic strategy with personal productivity.
First, we examine the macro rollout implemented over two years in the Somerset and Somerset Berkley Regional School Districts. This journey traces our trajectory from the October 2024 MIT Day of AI through staff baseline surveys, ethical policy development, and professional learning via the Google AI Professional Certificate, alongside student initiatives like the Hour of AI.
Second, we transition to the micro-level, demonstrating how a superintendent uses NotebookLM and Google Gems to streamline high-stakes communications, such as school committee updates and stakeholder memos. The session concludes with a hands-on clinic where participants will build their own custom Gem to automate a recurring leadership task.
