Centering the Multilingual Learner Experience
Description

This interactive session engages educators in journey mapping the learning experiences of Multilingual Learners (MLs) to identify visible and hidden barriers, language demands, and opportunities for agency. Participants will develop a learner journey map capturing academic, linguistic, social-emotional, and cultural touchpoints across a lesson. Learning objectives include understanding how to analyze variability in ML experiences, applying UDL guidelines to reduce barriers, and designing supports that promote access and agency. Through guided design activities, participants will collaboratively identify barriers and create UDL-aligned options to strengthen inclusion and belonging. Educators will leave with a ready-to-use journey map and actionable strategies to improve learning environments and better support multilingual learners
