Digital Agency: Strategies for Combatting the Screen Time Argument
Description
This session will redefine "screen time" through the lens of digital agency, moving beyond restrictive bans toward student-centered digital readiness. In this climate of tech-alarmism, we all need a toolbox of stratgies to defend digital literacy as a 21st-century civil right. We will examine the difference between passive consumption of technology and active creation and collaboration, which are critical skills needed for college and career readiness. Attendees will also participate in a collaborative discussion to brainstorm how to shift restrictive rules into agency-based guidelines and share real-world tactics for communicating these goals to stakeholders. Participants will leave with talking points and a peer-supported approach to championing digital agency in your district.
