Designing for Every Learner: AI-Powered Assessment and Personalization
Description

Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) offers a powerful framework, but implementing it across lessons, assessments, and feedback cycles remains a challenge. This hands-on session shows educators how AI can make SIOP practical and sustainable in everyday instruction. Participants will work through three integrated activities: (1) SIOP-aligned prompt strategies — crafting AI prompts that generate scaffolded materials offering multiple means of engagement, representation, and expression; (2) Personalized assessment design — building standards-aligned assessments and rubrics (3) AI-enhanced feedback systems — using AI-assisted grading to provide detailed, individualized feedback. Rooted in science and accessibility research, this session treats AI not as a shortcut but as a partner that helps educators reach every learner. Participants leave with templates, prompt libraries, and workflows ready for immediate classroom use across grade levels and content areas.
