Empowering Math Students Through Effective Use of Technology Tools
Description
Using research-backed strategies and universal design, teachers can enable students to take the lead in their own knowledge construction. The Modern Classrooms Project (MCP) model employs self-paced, blended, mastery-based instructional strategies to empower students. This approach enables effective integration of technology tools so that students can be responsible for their own learning and teachers can provide timely, informed, and focused instruction.
Through experiencing an MCP-style math lesson, attendees will learn about the structure and strategies and explore the technology opportunities it presents. These include: video-based instruction, technology-supported practice, and virtual feedback. Platforms for math learning shared will include Screencastify, DeltaMath, Desmos, and Google Classroom.
