Name
From Fear to Fluency to Agency - Narragansett’s AI Implementation Journey
Description
How does a district move from isolated AI experimentation to responsible, scalable implementation? This session shares Narragansett School System’s multi-year AI journey, from early work around privacy and academic integrity to professional learning, AI literacy pilots, governance, and instructional transformation. Participants will explore how the district developed a phased AI roadmap grounded in change management, organizational capacity-building, and human-centered design rather than technology hype. The session will highlight key decisions, including building privacy foundations, supporting early adopters, launching “Learning About AI” and “Learning With AI” pilots, creating policy and implementation guidelines, protecting student thinking, and designing feedback loops for responsible scaling. Participants will leave with practical structures for coaching, stakeholder communication, AI literacy integration, and balancing innovation with governance.
