Description
Purpose:
The purpose of this session is to help K–12 educators, instructional coaches, and technology leaders make informed, confident decisions when selecting academic software tools by using a structured vetting process that prioritizes student privacy and instructional effectiveness.
Objectives:
By the end of the session, participants will be able to:
-Identify key criteria for evaluating educational software, including privacy compliance, instructional value, and district alignment.
-Recognize common red flags in software tools and vendor practices.
-Apply a practical vetting framework to real-world scenarios.
-Collaborate with peers to develop local strategies for responsible edtech adoption.
The session will include hands-on activities and group discussions to engage participants in applying the framework to their schools and districts.
