Educators have been exploring and experimenting with generative AI since its arrival nearly three years ago. Most of these interactions have been through chatbots, text prompts and a generative text output such as a lesson plan or project design. There is an entirely different approach to AI use by educators that empowers them to create custom digital tools and learning experiences for their students. What is described as “vibe coding” is essentially the ability to have a generative AI tool create code to bring your vision and text description to fruition as a fully functioning digital web tool. With readily available generative AI platforms (Google Gemini Canvas), educators will know and understand the capacity, process, and key strategies to create their own custom digital solutions for the classroom and / or student use. Whether attendees have already started exploring the capacity of educational vibe-coding, or they are completely new to the use case of generative AI, all attendees will improve their capacity and ability to create with AI through the exploration of multiple levels of creation. From teacher use only tools designed for instructional purposes, to customized digital tools for student use, and school or district wide examples, there is something for everyone in this session.
