From Coding to AI Literacy: What’s Next for K–12 Computer Science
Description
Computer science education is entering a new chapter. Coding and computational thinking remain essential, but today’s students also need AI literacy, digital fluency, ethical reasoning, creativity, and opportunities to apply computing across disciplines. In this interactive session, CSforMA and DESE will share a practical framework for helping Massachusetts educators and leaders connect computer science, AI literacy, and digital literacy in coherent, equitable ways. Participants will explore how the Massachusetts DLCS standards can support the future of CS education, including computing and society, computational thinking, digital tools, data, and student agency. Through examples, guided discussion, and a planning activity, attendees will identify concrete next steps for their own classrooms, schools, or districts. This session is designed for educators and leaders working to broaden participation and prepare students for a rapidly evolving digital world.
