This session will overview the latest updates and changes in popular GenAI chatbots (ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, Claude, and Copilot), including interactive math and science visualizations, quiz modes, guided learning modes, AI agents, AI browsers, artifact creation capabilities, music generation, and more. Trying these new modes/capabilities, participants will engage in critical conversations about AI use in teaching and learning. The presenters will highlight research about the ethical issues raised by GenAI technologies so that participants can make informed decisions about when and/or how to use these tools in educational settings. By the end of the session, participants will be able to: 1) Discuss how different GenAI chatbot features, modes and/or capabilities impact teaching and learning; 2) Critically evaluate GenAI tools; & 3) Design an learning activity that incorporates a new GenAI mode, feature or capability to support students’ development of critical AI literacy skills.
