Pedagogy Before Prompts: Designing AI Professional Development That Starts with Teaching
Description
Most AI professional development starts with tools. This session starts with teaching.
This cross-school AI Fellowship is built on one principle: pedagogical thinking drives AI use, not the reverse. It pairs educator and administrator cohorts across five schools, with educators focused on instructional AI integration and administrators on AI policy. Both groups focus on peer learning within each group, cross-role collaboration between cohort pairs, and building a community of practice that sustains itself after facilitated sessions end.
At the educator track's core is the Backwards Design AI Workflow: six steps from learning objective to pedagogical move before a prompt is ever written.
You will hear the design story: what worked, what did not, and how the pedagogy-first frame landed with teachers across experience levels. Then you will try the workflow with your own content.
Leave with a replicable PD design model and a framework you can use immediately.
