Sensemaking and Storytelling using AI in the Science Classroom
Description

In this workshop, participants will bridge the gap between abstract science standards and student led discovery by merging the concepts of sensemaking and storytelling, supercharged by generative AI. We will explore how AI serves as a powerful co-designer to draft anchoring phenomena, generate local, high interest scenarios, and architect storylines. Participants will partner with AI to map complex concepts into coherent student driven story lines and leverage tools to provide scaffolding for student-designed initial models. Using these tools, participants will transform a standard unit into a narrative. You will leave with a practical toolkit to reduce planning burnout while increasing student agency, building strong relationships, and ensuring your classroom moves “Forward and Beyond” traditional instruction.
