Most districts don’t have AI guidelines, but that doesn’t mean AI isn’t being used. It just means decisions are inconsistent, unclear, and often risky. In this session, we focus on where to actually begin. Instead of jumping straight to policy, we look at how to build shared understanding first so your guidelines don’t fall flat or create more confusion. You’ll walk through how to identify the inconsistencies already happening in your system, define what AI should and should not do, and clarify expectations around instruction, data, and decision-making. We’ll also look at who needs to be at the table before anything gets written. You will leave with a clear starting point and a more realistic path to building guidelines that people will actually use.
