Name
Growing Global Citizens: Creating for Social Good
Description
This session will focus on promoting empathy and understanding through creativity, edtech, and maker learning. When students engage in creating for a purpose larger than themselves, they are engaged in relevant work that makes a positive impact. We can embed experiences into our educational programs that will grow our learners to be positive, global citizens of the world. As we introduce students to problems around the globe, students build their potential to create for social good. This session will take maker learning to the next level as learners develop the context for creating positive change, as opposed to making for making sake. It will give purpose to hands-on STEM and maker learning as learners use their creativity and collaboration to make a difference. We will explore global issues and ways that students can create things (inventions, stories, videos, campaigns, technology, tools) for social good.
