Littles CAN Collaborate: A Continuum for Digital Collaboration
Description
We say we want students to collaborate. But do we actually teach them how? In K–2 classrooms, "collaboration" too often means sitting next to a friend while working alone. That's not beyond — that's before. The Collaboration Continuum is a replicable framework that moves young learners forward through four scaffolded stages: Turn-Taking, Color-Coded Collaboration, Guided Inquiry, and Project-Based Learning. Each stage has digital tools, teacher moves, and "bumpers" to prevent chaos and build genuine skill. Participants experience every stage as learners — driving in the rain before teaching in it. Through Wixie and Book Creator, you'll see what each stage looks like in a real elementary classroom and leave with ready-made templates, a progression map, and immediate next steps. Multilingual learners and students with disabilities are included by design at every stage, not as an afterthought. Because collaboration isn't a personality trait — it's a skill. And it can be taught.
