Digital Stewardship: Balancing Innovation with Environmental Impact
Description

Moving "Forward and Beyond" requires transitioning from unchecked tech consumption to intentional digital stewardship. This session introduces an accessible framework for Sustainable EdTech. Participants will learn to analyze AI impacts, audit digital clutter, redesign active screen time, and establish Repair Cafés. The presentation is designed for all K-12 educators and administrators. It integrates directly into Science and STEAM, Digital Literacy, Business, ELA and Social Studies content. The presentation transitions from global impacts to classroom-ready solutions. We will explore the hidden energy and human impacts of AI, engaging attendees with an interactive poll and a short professional digital clutter audit. Next, we will focus on intentional digital creation and launching a school hardware repair space, using a crowdsourced lesson brainstorm on Padlet to generate immediate cross-disciplinary ideas. We conclude with a digital toolkit and a fun giveaway.
