Dr. Sara Ahern is the Superintendent of the Barnstable Public Schools, a role she has held since July 2022. Prior to that she was the Superintendent of Franklin Public Schools and the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology Integration in Holliston. She held several positions prior to that including that of high school science teacher, department head, and assistant principal. Sara completed her doctorate at Boston College in Educational Administration, after having earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology at the University of Virginia and Master’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from University of Massachusetts. Dr. Ahern’s areas of interest include instructional leadership; developing systems and processes for organizational improvement; and leadership development.
