Misinformation and "fake news" have been able to run rampant due to the widespread use of social media and accessibility to smart phones. With generative AI entering the picture, it has become even more essential to equip students with knowledge on how to verify information and images that they encounter on the internet. This session will introduce the concept of "lateral reading," a cross-curricular concept that was coined to help online readers fact-check before hitting "share."
