MassCUE Book Talk: Writing GenAI Prompts to
Support Higher-Order Thinking and Student Learning

Join MassCUE for a virtual author talk with Dr. Torrey Trust and Dr. Robert W. Maloy focused on prompt literacy and effective strategies for prompting generative AI in educational settings. Drawing from their book AI and Civic Engagement, the authors will share ready-to-use prompts designed to support higher-order thinking, meaningful learning, and civic engagement across subject areas.

Participants will explore how thoughtfully written prompts can help students engage more deeply with content while using AI responsibly and purposefully. The session will include examples educators can immediately adapt for their own classrooms, followed by an interactive Q&A where attendees can ask questions, share ideas, and discuss challenges and classroom applications of GenAI. Reading the book in advance is optional but encouraged for those who want to dive deeper and come prepared with questions.
