Beyond the Points: Leveraging AI to Operationalize Grading for Equity
Description

Traditional grading is often a barrier to equity, rewarding privilege while masking true potential. Are you ready to move "Forward and Beyond" the math of the 100-point scale? We will use AI as an "Architect’s Assistant" to tear down the walls of standards and build a system where every student sees a path to success. First, we will explore how to translate gatekept state standards into student-friendly “I Can" statements, giving learners the keys to their own growth. Then, we will design rubrics that strip away the hidden curriculum of behavior-based grading, ensuring grades reflect mastery, not compliance. Finally, we will create AI-powered scaffolds that catch students before they fall, turning the gradebook into a roadmap for intervention rather than a record of failure.
