Media Literacy Speed‑Dating: Rapid‑Fire Strategies for Every Classroom
Description

In today’s media‑saturated, AI‑driven world, students must critically evaluate information across every discipline. This session shows how media literacy integrates into existing curriculum without adding burden. Using a speed‑dating format, participants rotate through brief, hands‑on stations: analyzing persuasive techniques in health posts; distinguishing author intent in ELA; sourcing historical media; investigating algorithmic influence in CS/DLCS; evaluating scientific claims vs. headlines; and examining AI‑generated images in STEM. Each station includes a quick debrief and a ready‑to‑use routine. Participants leave with practical strategies that build inquiry, critical thinking, and responsible digital citizenship. The session aligns with Playground themes including AI, digital citizenship, computational thinking, accessibility/UDL, emerging technologies, leadership, and student creativity.
